Today’s verse is 2 Corinthians 4:18 and it says: “SO WE FIX OUR EYES NOT ON WHAT WE’RE SEEING, BUT WHAT IS UNSEEN, for WHAT IS SEEN IS TEMPORARY, BUT WHAT IS UNSEEN IS ETERNAL.” And what comes to mind when you think about this verse. The Apostle Paul wrote this letter to a church that was in a place of struggle. They were finding it hard to understand suffering, limitations and disappointment. But this verse provided a powerful invitation for them and also for us today: We are invited to fix our eyes on what we can not see. Now to fix our eyes means to intentionally focus, to train your attention. Now think about that for a second with me: Paul is not denying reality, he is teaching us how to interpret reality. What we see around us, our circumstances, our bodies, our struggles, even our successes, these things are real.
